The City Commission and City Manager have begun the process of laying off 13 Royal Oak Firefighters and Paramedics, along with removing the ambulances that transport injured and sick citizens in our community.  Current efforts are underway to offer suggestions and cost-saving ideas to keep these dedicated workers on the job, as well as, keeping the ambulances in service for EMS runs.  At this time, the City Commission and City Manager are not willing to work with the Firefighters or the ideas that have been proposed.

The next City Commission meeting will be Sept. 13, 2010 in the City Hall, 3rd floor meeting room.  Public Comment will start at 7:30pm.  We encourage all citizens to get involved and stand up and voice your outrage for this attack on your safety and your families safety.  Encourage the Commission to work with the Firefighters and seek alternatives, rather than making these cuts in services.  If you are unable to attend this meeting here are the Phone numbers and e-mail addresses of the City Commissioners and Mayor of Royal Oak.
